Job Overview

This position manages the daily operations of the accounting and finance operations including providing oversight and direction for monthly and quarterly financial statement preparation, financial reporting including compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Responsible for determining the application of accounting policies and principles and overseeing the preparation of supporting schedules including financial analysis of operations, cost accounting, cash management, revenue recognition and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Company’s financial planning process including annual plans, quarterly and long range forecasts through preparation, analysis and interpretation of detailed financial forecasts

  • Analyze and evaluate business practices within Financial Planning, Budgeting and Analysis and recommend actions to streamline processes, improve operational efficiencies, enhance the quality of financial analysis and reporting, and identify opportunities for reducing operational costs

  • Leads preparation of financial and budgetary reports, profit and loss and financial statements as well as balance sheet and cash flow analysis

  • Provide effective and timely financial information, business analytics and information to senior leadership to ensure the departments are effective in creating and executing the company’s strategic operating plan

  • Assesses, prioritizes and represents the workforce needs to CFO. Collaborates in identifying solutions, takes a lead role in their implementation and engages in ongoing assessment of all finance, accounting, and risk management process effectiveness and identification of improvement opportunities and solutions.

  • Evaluation of existing processes and identifying more efficient ways to accomplish goals and meet customer and organizational requirements; continuously improving the processes through regular assessment and adjustment.

  • Ensures that all policies, procedures and internal controls are maintained and are in compliance with Federal, State and City regulations, in all matters as it relates to finance, accounting and risk management

  • Participate in acquisitions, annual tax filing, system changes and audits (internal and external). Represent the organization in interactions with governmental/regulatory authorities.

  • Ensures implementation of Finance, Accounting and Risk Management directives are communicated and adhered to by the Business Units, General Managers and Finance associates of Sage

  • Remain current regarding finance and accounting practices and guidelines, to assess industry trends and best practices in the Finance, Accounting, and Risk Management functions

  • Make customers the primary focus of one's actions; developing and sustaining productive and influential customer relationships; creating/executing plans and solutions in collaboration with the customer to meet their strategic business needs.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred, or equivalent experience. MBA and CPA preferred.

Experience

  • Twelve (12) years’ experience, at least eight (8) of which must have been at a Director level or above.

  • Variety of local, divisional and/or broad geographic or multi-property Finance and Accounting leadership roles and experiences, with proven impact and accomplishments.

  • Establishment, development and leadership of Finance and Accounting teams, functioning across multiple sites.

  • Implementation of core Accounting and Finance processes across multiple locations.

  • Experience working in a matrix reporting relationship with Corporate and Field/Property resources.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of finance and accounting practices and principles, including GAAP

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to apply effective to practical solutions

  • Strong organization and time management skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and other office programs.

  • Knowledge of Tax regulations.

  • Understanding of all aspects of the Finance and Accounting disciplines.
