Job Overview

The Fitness Club Manager is responsible for managing all assigned areas of the fitness club while ensuring the satisfaction and safety of guests and associates. Oversees daily operations of the fitness club operations with emphasis on guest service, cleanliness, safety, fiscal responsibility, staff guidance and support to make the fitness club the best facility possible in order to support hotel goals. Develops and recommends the marketing plans and objectives and manages within those approved plans.

Responsibilities

Sales & Marketing: Implement initiatives to help both team members and the business increase income individually and in conjunction with the sales team. Creating monthly promotions and generating membership revenue, develop monthly class schedule and keep current with industry fitness trends. Coordinate special events, including networking and volunteer opportunities, manage social media.

Membership Sales: Proactively sell membership and services through direct sales activities in effort to meet individual sales goals. Reviews and updates membership contracts, enters account set up and paid through Envision and maintains billing information with ASF and Interstate Collections. Orders membership cards. Keep track of lost members, expired members through tracking sheet at the front desk

Manage Group Exercise, Yoga Instructors & Personal Trainers: Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, associate development and termination. Maintains strong communication through email and one on one meetings to promote development, evaluate all instructors to ensure safety and strong class attendance. Implements standardized protocols for trainers and new member evaluations.

Member & Guest Experience: Ensure all members and guests have excellent customer service experiences, responsible for helping with resolution of any concerns or complaints. Maintain a fun, upbeat environment for the members to feel comfortable in by providing a personalized experience. Train front desk associates on touring and provide membership information. Maintain strong communication with the membership, create and develop information for the monthly newsletter.

Oxford Annex Office: Work closely with the Director of Finance to identify sales and occupancy opportunities in the Oxford Annex. Seek out potential office space tenants, schedule showings of office space and create and maintain contracts for tenants with the assistance of the Director of Finance and the company legal department. Assist current Annex tenants with scheduling maintenance requests, scheduling use of conference spaces and other requests as needed.

Education: Continue to seek out educational opportunities for self and team to keep Oxford Club on the cutting edge of industry trends and products. Attend Sales and Marketing events annually (NFBA) to stay in tune with the industry. Keep up to date information on monthly races and promote health and wellness within the facility and to the members. Set up annual CPR trainings and insure all instructors and contractors are up to date with certifications, insurance and other requirements.

Operations/Facility: Responsible for maintaining facility maintenance, including tracking of projects, work orders, maintaining plants, water filters, MSDS and first aid maintenance throughout the facility. Work with vendors to ensure equipment is in working condition and routine maintenance is performed. Maintain music selection for instructors as needed. Responsible for locker room maintenance and supplies, including keys, first aid items and steam room maintenance.

Administration: Achieves activity goals as established by management and completes all reports and assignments in an accurate and timely fashion. Contributes to the overall sales effort during planning and strategy phases through research and knowledgeable input.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience in spa management is acceptable

Experience

3 or more years of experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of spa operations to include health, fitness, wellness or related fields

  • Experience and skills in budgetary, projections, and cost control

  • Attention to detail

  • Good organizational and analytical skills

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
