Director of Payroll Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the identification of payroll/HCM system solution for over 27 states and union environments that delivers accurate and timely payroll processing, an efficient and simple employee experience, and business insights and analytics

  • Partner with RFP system transformation and implementation vendor to develop and implement detailed payroll transformation project plan

  • Manage scope of the transformation project to deliver the solution on time and on budget

  • Partner with Payroll Manager to demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, payroll policies and processes, system enhancements, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service

  • Analyze complex transactions, identify issues, and work with internal operational teams to identify causes, assess risks, and implement plans to eliminate future occurrence

  • Maintain current knowledge of, and compliance with, legal requirements associated with payroll including, but not limited to, applicable wage and tax regulations, Federal, State and local laws, FLSA, reporting requirements, internal controls and Company policies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (Business, Accounting, HR or Finance) or equivalent work experience

  • Certified Payroll Professionals (CPP) designation required

  • 10 years leadership experience leading a multi-state payroll function and/or senior project management responsibility leading multi-state payroll transformation initiatives including the implementation of payroll technology platforms

  • Experience in the deployment of Payroll software

Posting Overview:

The Director of Payroll is responsible for developing strategies and plans in support of Sage’s payroll/human capital management system transformation along with efforts towards the pursuit of establishing leading payroll processes and competencies throughout the organization. This is a leadership role in which you will organize and spearhead various projects in preparation for a HCM implementation project and provide direction to project resources working in collaboration with internal stakeholders, payroll vendors, and system integrators.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience
