Job Overview

Director of Digital Marketing assists with the development, implementation and management of online marketing programs, websites, SEO, content, and related programs for Sage’s portfolio of independent hotels and restaurants. Coordinates with outside digital agencies and property staff to ensure all program objectives are achieved and revenue is maximized.

The ideal candidate demonstrates enthusiasm and passion for all facets of marketing. Working with designated hotels to showcase unique property identities and position the hotels as lifestyle leaders in the marketplace.


  • Work with designated hotels and agencies to strategize and execute current digital marketing best practices including paid, retargeting, social, programmatic advertising, and SEO.

  • Utilize current reporting from agencies, social platforms, and Google Analytics to drive improved content, marketing initiatives and decisions.

  • Collaborate with property and corporate sales, revenue management, and operations teams to maximize direct website traffic, revenue, and conversions.

  • Recommend changes and new reporting based on changes in technology, social networks or other areas in conjunction with changing business needs.

  • Strategize with on-property marketing teams to develop promotional packages/campaigns, providing guidance on creative, channel deployment and customer targeting.

  • Attend bi-monthly / monthly meetings with property teams and agencies, serve as subject matter expert and provide strategic advice on how to enhance performance.

  • Monitor trends, online media, brand reputation and stay current on all digital marketing techniques and innovations, sharing ideas and recommendations for implementation at appropriate hotels.

  • Regularly collaborate with cross functional partners within the marketing department, Public Relations, Social Media, CRM, Food & Beverage, and Programing.

  • Develop strategic annual marketing plan and establishes annual marketing budgets according to individual business needs and goals.

  • Monitor and ensure external communications, websites and advertisements leverages and represents the brand.

  • Audit hotel content on all digital channels (owned and third-party), ensuring content is optimized and consistent with brand standards.

  • Educate on-property marketing managers and Directors of Sales & Marketing with digital best practices including but not limited to: SEM, SEO, OTA optimizations, website optimizations, online demand generation channels, social media advertising, online reputation management and overall online visibility.


Education/Formal Training

A four year college degree or equivalent education/experience.


5+ years of digital marketing experience at an agency or in-house, ideally in the independent hospitality industry.


  • Specific experience with SEM, SEO, Meta, social media, and other digital media.

  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Search Console

  • Success driving digital results in prior roles and the ability to communicate the strategies and tactics that generated positive results.

  • Experience with content management systems, basic web design, and U/X.

  • Relationship management and account management skills. Negotiation and escalation management experience preferred.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, keeping them organized and meeting deadlines.

  • A problem solver – able to define problems, identify trends, and draw conclusions.

  • Ability to proactively plan and propose new opportunities.

  • Professionalism and exceptional communication skills both verbal and written
