Job Overview

The Bench Director of Sales & Marketing & Transitions is primarily responsible for managing hotel transitions, ensuring smooth operations during openings, sales, or exiting hotels. This role also strategically and tactically oversees the Sales discipline for any assigned hotel under Sage Hotel Management. The position aims to deliver sales results across various locations and assist properties during critical transition periods. The role involves developing new accounts, growing current hotel accounts, and achieving revenue goals through a profitable and win-win selling approach.

Responsibilities

  • ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with Director of Transitions & Operations, to lead and manage hotel transitions with emphasis on sales, including openings, exiting hotels, and unexpected changes, ensuring smooth operations and minimal disruption.

  • Work with VP, Sales & Marketing Operations to develop and implement sales transition plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and communication strategies, to ensure successful hotel transitions.

  • Coordinate with various departments, including marketing, revenue, IT, and finance, to ensure all aspects of the transition are covered and executed effectively.

  • As needed conduct site visits to transitioning properties to assess progress, address issues, and provide support as needed.

  • Provide training and support to hotel staff during transitions to ensure they are well-prepared for new processes and systems.

  • Quickly adapt to new properties and environments, making an immediate impact based on hotel needs.

  • Achieve a minimum of 90% of productivity goals and 100% of activity goals, as established by management.

  • Exhibit leadership competencies that create vision, provide direction, and drive the success of the hotel’s direct sales and marketing efforts for multiple properties.

  • Facilitate the development of a strategic sales and marketing approach that follows a standardized process and effectively communicates strategy and revenue projections.

  • Direct Sales & Key Account Management: Target appointment-oriented sales calls to ensure a successful direct sales program, maximize current hotel key accounts, and participate in global sales efforts.

  • Capture competitor's accounts through networking, research, and reader board surveys to generate new business.

  • Plan and implement an ongoing Targeted Account Development "hit list" to create new revenue and acquire valuable hotel contacts and contracts.

  • Utilize yield management techniques by profitably negotiating room rates and function space commitments to enhance the hotel's financial performance.

  • Conduct sales meetings, training, and coaching sessions with sales teams.

  • Attend and participate in revenue, marketing, and sales calls.

  • Maintain a well-documented, accurate, organized, and up-to-date file management system.

  • Develop strong customer relations through frequent communication and professional, courteous, and ethical interpersonal interaction.

  • Develop customer profiles and maintain an effective trace system to best meet client needs, resulting in superior account service and increased revenues.

  • Promptly follow up on all customer needs and inquiries efficiently and expediently.

  • Coordinate the completion of group rooms, banquet F&B, and Local F&B goals, and approve quarterly & annual goals and updates.

  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget, forecast, and identify opportunities to maximize market share and revenue.

  • Execute market studies to support business development needs by preparing for and participating in internal/external client presentations/meetings/reports.

  • Assist with forecasting, pace, market share, and margin improvement, including developing effective comprehensive metrics and reporting processes.

  • Conduct research, surveys, personal investigation, and studies of the marketplace and territory to capitalize on the hotel's strengths and competitor's weaknesses.

  • Control expenses, including travel on the property's behalf, to minimize hotel costs.

  • Represent the hotel and Sage Hospitality Resources with the highest level of integrity.

  • Exhibit a positive and involved team attitude to all hotel departments and maintain open communications with all coworkers for the best overall performance of the hotel.

  • Display a neat, clean, and business-like appearance at all times. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform any other assignments as directed by the organization or leadership.

  • Ability to travel regularly.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

  • Supervise 1-10 Sales Associates based on assignment.

Qualifications

  • Excellent hearing required to train and interact with management and associates.

  • Excellent vision required to read reports, computer, etc.

  • Limited mobility between offices and departments.

Education/Formal Training:

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent education or experience.

Experience:

  • 5 - 10 years of related experience in sales and marketing roles in a hospitality environment.

  • Multi-brand experience is preferred.
