Posting Overview:

The Assistant Director of Engineering assists in the safe, efficient maintenance and operation of the hotels physical structure. Demonstrates great leadership skills in managing associates and ensuring the safety of guests. Supervises the implementation of all property and equipment preventive maintenance, repairs, monitor life safety systems and utilities. Assist in the administration of the department in compliance with all hotel brand standards, local, state and federal codes and regulations to protect hotel assets.

General plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical systems, boilers, bathroom fixtures and tiling, painting – prep to finish, basic carpentry, grounds keeping. Requires advanced knowledge of building management/engineering. May require considerable working knowledge of other major areas in the hotel and the skill to integrate and communicate that information. Requires investigating and analyzing current activities and/or information in a specialized field involving readily available data and indicating logical conclusions and recommendations.

Requires supervisory skills. Ability to provide information and associated services to hotel management and guests.

Excellent hearing required to communicate with management and staff. Excellent vision required to visually check hotel premises. Excellent speech communication skills required to communicate with management and staff. Excellent comprehension and literacy required for procedures, reports, instructions, receipts.

Abilities

Machinery. Frequent bending and/or kneeling throughout the day for repairs and maintenance of hotel property, equipment and machinery.

Mobility throughout the hotel, all floors, varying heights and distances. Use of ladders and lifts required at times. Continuous standing required in varying degrees throughout the day. Climbing approximately 210 steps 1% of each day. Climbing ladders approximately 20 feet 1% of each day. Driving -limited driving on an occasional basis for supplies, equipment, etc. Generally within 20 miles.

Education/Formal Training

One to two years of post high school education.

Experience

Experience required by position is from two to three full years of full employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).

Material/Equipment Used

Water treatments, cleaning, degreasers, coil cleaners, paint thinners, gasoline. Protective Clothing -facemask (chemical testing), goggles, rubber gloves, welding shield worn approximately

Environment

Work inside 95% of a week; outside 5% of a week. Abnormal temperatures -walk-in freezers below 32 degrees -1% of the time. Equipment operation -power hand tools (i.e. circular saw, drill).
