Sage Hospitality Resources General Manager, UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Charlotte, North Carolina
Sage Hospitality is looking for an experienced General Manager to open the Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center! This position is slated to start in early Q2 of 2020, with anticipation of the hotel opening in March of 2021. This project is a brand new development that will be located right on the UNC Charlotte campus. The hotel will be a 226 room Marriott with 24,000 square feet of conference space and a 132 space parking deck. The brand new hotel will also have the convenience of being right next to the light rail.
You will be responsible for all aspects of the operations, most importantly leading a team of dynamic individuals and rallying them around a unique service culture that leaves a lasting impression with guests and associates alike. You will contain an entrepreneurial spirit that makes this hotel come to life, all the while precisely managing the operation keeping the hotel profitable. This role will report to the Vice President of Operations within Sage Hospitality.
Develop and maintain strong and mutually beneficial relationships
Collaborate with the university to create efficient and innovative outcomes that provide a unique and distinctive guest experience
Lead and manage a large and diverse workforce
Strong focus on topline revenue
Hotel opening experience as an EC member required, preferably as a General Manager
Marriott Full Service experience required
Strong desire to be part of the educational environment required
Conference center programming experience preferred
Strong political savvy

The General Manager is responsible for the successful management and operation of the hotel and demonstrates excellent leadership skills that inspire others to succeed. Ensures the completion and review of the hotels annual budget, marketing plan, capital expenditures plan, and implementation of the company’s policies and procedures.

Must have vision ability in order to visually inspect hotel. Must have mobility to walk through the front and the back of the hotel. Climbing approximately 20-30 steps 10% of the week. Physically able to regularly inspect all areas of interior and exterior of facility.
A four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience. Previous experience as General Manager or Assistant General Manager at a similar size and type of hotel or previous experience in a Department Head role within a similar hotel.
