Job Overview

Under general supervision, provides prompt and courteous wine service to restaurant and lounge customers.

Responsibilities

  • Circulate through the assigned area, recommends and serves wine to guests.

  • Manages the daily activities necessary for maintenance and promotion of the organization's wine collection.

  • Ring guest checks, collect cash and process credits and room charges in the exact manner outlined by company policies and procedures.

  • Increase revenue by Training Team Members to up-sell, and other suggestive procedures.

  • Decrease expenses through proper handling of product, and other suggestive procedures.

  • Works with the culinary team to develop food and wine pairings.

  • Identifies and purchases wines for the organization.

  • Monitors the conditions of the wine cellar, ensuring optimal storage.

  • Follow and practice all alcoholic beverage laws, policies and regulations.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

  • Perform all guest contact activities in a cordial, efficient and professional manner; maintaining a commitment to guest satisfaction.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

Bartending training and certification, TIPS Certified. Sommelier Certification Required.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar job.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Must be 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.

  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry tables, chairs, trays, plates, and chaffing dishes on a daily basis, 20 -40 lbs.

  • Bending -Bend to pick up dropped items as needed. Bend to assist in serving food or getting supplies.

  • No kneeling required.

  • Mobility -95% of shift covering all areas of outlets

  • No driving required.

  • Must have moderate comprehension and literacy to read use records and all special requests.

  • Must have ability to perform multiple tasks at one time, must be able to follow verbal and written instruction, and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Must be highly organized and able to pay attention to sound and sight details in crowded and noisy situations, particularly when handling multiple tasks.

  • Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.

  • Ability to read, speak and write English.

  • Ability to accurately count cash. Ability to operate cash register.
