Job Overview
The Music & Social Programming Curator will oversee the sounds, vibes, and social activities of Hotel Van Zandt and Geraldine’s by engaging with Austin’s music, art, and entertainment community to produce high-quality, high-touch events and activations. With the continuous goal of keeping Hotel Van Zandt the trailblazer of the local music world, you will curate the live music lineups for Geraldine’s, showcasing our diverse pool of local talent or collaborating with artists around the globe. Responsibilities
Restaurant/Venue
Entertainment: Book, coordinate, and account for live music and performances.
Administration: Contract execution, vendor set up, invoice collection, and check entry and delivery. This position will also oversee invoice processing for FOH & BOH purchases
Stage management: Oversee sound engineer, equipment, sound booth, etc.
Artist communication: Delivery of promo materials, load-in/load-out protocol, run of show, and hospitality.
Staff Engagement: Obtain staff feedback on performances, keep team engaged and excited about live entertainment so they can share knowledge with guests.
Public space music: Maintain vibe, correspond with TPG, and educate staff of appropriate sound levels and times of day.
Events: Develop and execute additional events on and off site.
Promo Materials: Use Adobe Illustrator to create individual performance e-fliers for bands/djs (distribute). Create, print and distribute weekly Music Line Up Playbills throughout the hotel. Coordinate with Kimpton Marketing & PR and execute creative briefs for additional events.
Social Media: Maintain an active presence on Facebook (post latest articles, photos) and Instagram.
PR: Maintain constant communication with PR for all music performances and additional activations on property. Be available for interviews and press opportunities.
Hotel
Community Outreach: Work with DOSM and GM to establish meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships within the NPO sector of Austin. Maintain relationship and track ROI (when applicable).
Public Space Music: Maintain vibe, correspond with TPG, and educate staff of appropriate sound levels and times of day.
Concierge communication: Send weekly email to Front Office staff including the music line up (with descriptions) and an additional off-property playbill for music around Austin that week. Engage with staff so they feel confident in guest communications.
PR: Maintain constant communication with PR about music, entertainment, and community outreach opportunities. Be available for interviews and press opportunities as requested.
Industry Outreach: Seek and maintain connections within the Austin entertainment industry. Be available for networking events and outings.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Two (2) full years of employment in a related position as prior experience is required.
Knowledge/Skills
Requires knowledge of computer equipment.
Requires knowledge of general sales techniques, yield management, and customer service skills.
May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property
Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff including maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times

Excellent literacy necessary to read BEOs, process gratuities and payroll, etc
