Job Overview

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all mechanical and electric systems. Duties may consist of welding, brazing, repairs to refrigeration, plumbing, air conditioning, laundry, and kitchen equipment, as well as working with electronic record keeping equipment, CMMS, sound equipment, etc. and perform all other maintenance work necessary to maintain the property in an optimum and efficient condition. Also, ensure the safety and comfort of the guests and employees.

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Mechanical and Electrical Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical, and electrical equipment and systems and performing minor installation of equipment up to 5 tons. Inspect and maintain all Mechanic & Electric sections of the building. Including HVAC units, RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, ADOS, VRF, Split Systems, BAS and BMS, Thermostats, Cooling Towers, Chillers, Heat exchangers, Pumps, Controls, Boilers, Electric Panels, Lighting and Related Controls, Heaters, Actuated and Manual Valves, Dehumidifiers, Kitchen Equipment, Walk-In Coolers and Freezers, Refrigeration Units, Dishwashers, and any other equipment as Instructed or required. Coordinates with Director of Engineering, and leaders from other departments to carry out maintenance requests, conduct cleaning programs or to respond to an emergency or equipment breakdown which can interrupt normal Hotel operation. Maintains the property equipment logs in good order, including refrigeration tracking logs as required by EPA and internal Engineering SOPs. Completes jobs in accordance with SOPs for the Preventive Maintenance Program in their respective areas. Ensures a clean and organized environment in the mechanical shop. Assists in other general work tasks of the department as assigned or required. Maintains adequate par and stock of parts and material necessary to complete work orders, scheduled repairs, and preventive maintenance duties. Coordinates with other Engineering staff as well as other departments to gain access to rooms, and back of the house areas for repairs. Completes work orders as assigned. Completes the preventive maintenance program as per SOPs. Coordinates vendors’ work orders and provides them access. Controls vendor hours and workload. Reports all vendor related issues and work completion to the Director of Engineering. Advises Director of Engineering on potentially dangerous situations, or imminent equipment failure. Complete any and all other tasks as assigned by the Director of Engineering.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to understand, speak, read and write English fluently as all manuals, operating procedures

and safety advisories are communicated primarily in English. Must possess an EPA 608 Universal

Certification, and a Certification of Completion of technical or trade school education in the HVAC*,

Electrical, or Boiler trades; Graduate diploma in a technical school, a minimum of 3 years of

experience in the fields mentioned above or a combination of education/experience but no less than 1.5

years of field experience. Good personality, mature, dependable, and a good team player.

*Required trade **trades preferred but not required.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to analyze, solve problems and make sound decisions related to equipment repairs. Must

be safety-minded and able to operate with minimal supervision. Must be a self-starter and possess a

strong sense of integrity.

EXPERIENCE:

At least 3 years in the above-mentioned trades. 4- or 5-star hotel properties experience preferred but not required.

Qualifications

COMPUTER LITERATE:

Yes, must be able to communicate via email, utilize CMMS, and electronics inspection logs, as well as

utilizing electronic control and communication devices.

EDUCATION:

Trade School or accredited equivalent required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work will be primarily completed during the morning shift. However, it may be required to work

afternoons or overnight shifts as needed. Must be able to perform work in adverse conditions i.e.

outdoors, confined spaces, non-condition spaces, heights, ladders, work platforms, etc. Able to routinely

lift and handle between 50-75Lbs

ATTIDUTES:

Ability to perform comfortably both in a team environment and/or independently with minimum

supervision is strongly preferred. Self-motivation, discipline, and good analytical skills are ideal traits of

this individual as well as being capable of strong decision-making and confident resolve.

TEMPERAMENT:

Self motivated, responsible, ability to perform wide varieties of tasks with or without supervision or

guidance. Highly ethical and dependable individuals preferred.
